Top 3 Tips to Secure the Best Price on Flights!!

Updated: Jul 23, 2022

Are you ever sitting at home and you just get the urge to book a holiday or trip abroad but then after about 20 minutes of browsing and looking up accommodation and trying to work out how much it's gonna cost, you get so tired and overwhelmed that you just give up? Because if so I got you!!

Ye okay so this picture has nothing to do with the what I'm about to discuss but we move! So basically I've been organising so many holidays and trips with my friends for the past few years I've picked up a few tips and tricks that make booking a holiday a piece of cake with the addition of some money saving nuggets of wisdom. So i'm here to share them all (or as many as I can remember) with you right now! Let's gooooooooo

SKYSCANNER is your BFF for Browsing!

Skyscanner is a super simple and straightforward platform to use for looking up flights, as you can gauge the best dates to fly at different times in the year to find the best price for you, while also being able to determine which airline is the most economical to fly with.

Skyscanner is the bomb but please I cannot stress this enough, for LOOKING UP FLIGHTS ONLY!!!!!

Book Direct!

I have a pet peeve of people booking flights (or accommodation) through a third party and have heard too many times that when issues arise such as flight cancellation or delays it can be extremely hard to get in contact with the third party organisation due to poor customer service. Trust me, the last thing you want is to be stranded in an airport, having to fork out hundreds of euro for a ticket you could've gotten for free (or at a much smaller cost) had you booked directly with the airline to begin with! Also, with accommodation through some third party organisations so have turned up and found out their accommodation was double booked, and obviously the person who booked directly through the website gets priority. So please don't make this mistake!

Incognito Is Key🔑

Anyone who is familiar with searching up flights is probably aware of this one but for those of you who don't know, I'm just going to explain the concept to you real quick!

For Mac

File > New Private Window / Press Command + Shift + n

For Windows

Open Google Chrome > Click 3 dot icon > New incognito window / Press Ctrl + Shift + n

There's a lot of mixed opinions on booking flights 'incognito' when it comes to price but I think it's a good habit to get into! Many claim your search history doesn't affect flight prices, and although I haven't found any concrete evidence to support my claim that is DOES influence price, I will still always search 'incognito' out of habit. Do with this tip as you will, it's completely up to you!

Thanks so much for continuing to read my blog I love all the support!

See ya on the flip,

Laura.
